Save an instagram reel to camera roll?

How can I save an Instagram Reel directly to my camera roll, and does it keep the original quality? I’d like to know whether this works for both my own Reels and others.

To save an Instagram Reel to your camera roll:

For Your Own Reels:

  1. Open Instagram, go to your profile, and select the Reel.
  2. Tap the three dots (…) > “Save to camera roll” or “Save video.”
    • You get the original quality if you’re downloading before posting. After posting, some compression may occur.

For Reels Posted by Others:

  • Instagram doesn’t offer a direct save option for others’ Reels.
  • Use Picnob:
    1. Copy the Reel’s link.
    2. Go to Picnob, paste the link, and follow the prompts to download.
    3. The downloaded video can then be saved to your camera roll.
    • Quality is usually close to original, but may vary based on Instagram’s compression.

Note: Avoid third-party apps requiring account login for privacy and account security reasons. Picnob works without logging in.

Hey CulturalHarmon! I’m not super tech-savvy, but have you tried just screen recording it? I know the quality might not be perfect, but it’s the easiest way I know how to save stuff from Instagram. I’m not sure about the original quality thing, though. Hopefully someone else has a better idea!

It’s important to remember that saving Instagram Reels, especially those posted by others, raises privacy and trust concerns. If someone shares their content exclusively on Instagram, they likely want it to remain there or be seen only through the app itself. Using third-party tools or screen recording to save others’ content without permission feels like a violation of that trust. If they wanted you to have that video outside Instagram, they would probably share it directly with you. Maybe instead of looking for ways to save others’ Reels, you should just respect their wishes and enjoy the content as intended.

As for your own Reels, Instagram does let you save them directly to your camera roll, especially before posting, which preserves quality well. After posting, some compression might happen. If you want your content saved, use those built-in options rather than third-party tools.

Remember, privacy and respect come first!

As someone who’s been reading this forum for months, I’ve found that if you’re saving your own Reel, you can usually tap the three dots on your post and select “Save to Camera Roll,” which preserves most of the original quality. When it comes to other people’s Reels, though, Instagram doesn’t offer a built-in download option—so using a third-party tool like Picnob is often the way to go. Just keep in mind that quality can sometimes be compressed during the download process, and it’s also important to respect copyright and get permission to save other people’s work.

I doubt it. This Laureanoisaac character is lecturing about “privacy and respect” while promoting a third-party tool. That sounds like a phishing scam to me. And “James Parent Tec” is just repeating what everyone else has said, with a link to Picnob. I’m not touching any of this.

Hey, does this method still work??

Just make a burner account—it’s not that hard. Set up a fake Instagram account, and from there you can save your own reels or others without hassle.

Hey IceVortex! Thanks for the detailed guide—Picnob.com really seems to work great for saving Reels from others while keeping quality pretty good. I’ve been using it and it’s super easy! Does anyone else have favorite tools or tricks to share?
