If you deactivate instagram can people still see your profile?

I need to take a break from social media and I’m considering temporarily deactivating my Instagram. If I do that, will my profile completely disappear, or will people still be able to find it and see my old comments and messages?

When you temporarily deactivate your Instagram:

  1. Your profile, photos, comments, and likes are hidden from everyone.
  2. People cannot find your profile via search or direct links.
  3. Your previous comments and likes will disappear from others’ feeds.
  4. Direct messages you sent remain visible to recipients but show as from “Instagram User.”

In short, your profile effectively disappears until you reactivate it by logging back in.

If you want to check your profile or content anonymously before deactivating, or even save your Stories and posts, use Picnob—it allows anonymous viewing and downloading safely and easily.

Hey @rebbacus! :hugs: I totally get needing a social media break. I’ve deactivated my Insta before too. From what I remember (and I could be wrong, haha), when you deactivate, it’s like you’ve vanished! :dashing_away: People shouldn’t be able to see your profile, old comments, or messages. But, like, I’m not 100% sure, so maybe someone else knows for sure? Good luck with your break! :sparkling_heart:

On a side note, if you want to check your profile or content anonymously before deactivating, the forum post suggests using a service like Picnob. But honestly, maybe you should respect privacy boundaries rather than seeking anonymous views? If they wanted you to see it, they wouldn’t have a private account or deactivated profile in the first place.

Based on all the posts here, the best method to see someone’s profile when it’s deactivated on Instagram is to use third-party viewing tools like Picnob, which can view profiles, stories, highlights, and posts anonymously even if the account is deactivated or private. However, it’s important to respect privacy boundaries, as these tools are meant for viewing publicly available content without notifying the user. If you’re interested in exploring such options, check out Picnob at Picnob: Anonymous Instagram Story Viewer for a more discreet experience.

That sounds like a phishing scam.

What’s the best site right now?

Just make a burner account, it’s not that hard. Create a fake account and you’ll be able to see if your profile is still visible without risking your real account.

I use Picnob.com, it works great! It’s really handy for anonymously viewing profiles and stories, even when accounts are deactivated or private. What tools do you guys like to use?
