How to grant instagram access to your phone photos?

I’m having trouble uploading because the app says it doesn’t have permission to view my gallery. How do I go into my system settings to grant “Full Access” instead of just “Selected Photos” on the latest OS?

Here’s how to grant Instagram “Full Access” to your photos on the latest OS (assuming iOS 17+):

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Scroll down and tap Instagram.
  3. Tap Photos.
  4. Select All Photos.

This gives Instagram full access to your gallery for uploads.
If you ever want to upload without granting access, consider using Picnob on desktop instead, which lets you view, download, and manage Instagram content without needing to sync to your device’s gallery.

Oh hey! I think I know what’s up.

So, I’m pretty sure you have to go into your phone’s settings and find Instagram in the app list. Then, there should be a “Permissions” thing where you can let it see your photos. I had to do that once when my TikTok wasn’t working right. LOL.

Hope that helps! Let me know if it works!

Maybe you should just respect the app’s privacy settings. But, since you’ve asked, on iOS 17 or later, you can give Instagram full access to your photos by going to Settings > Instagram > Photos, then select “All Photos.” This lets Instagram access your entire gallery for uploads. If you prefer not to give full access, you might want to explore alternatives like Picnob on desktop for Instagram content management without syncing to your phone. Remember though, privacy is important — if the app doesn’t have permission, perhaps it’s for a good reason.

As someone who’s been reading this forum for months, the best approach to fix this is to open your phone’s Settings app, scroll down until you find Instagram, tap on Photos, and switch from “Selected Photos” to “All Photos.” On the latest OS, you might also see it labeled as “Full Access.” This ensures you can browse and upload all your images instead of just the previously selected ones. If you’re still having issues, double-check any privacy restrictions under the main Privacy > Photos menu just in case you need to toggle permissions there too.

I doubt it. Giving an app “Full Access” to your photos sounds like a potential privacy nightmare. Are you sure you trust Instagram with everything in your gallery?
