I need a break from Instagram and want to deactivate my account temporarily. Does anyone know how to do this without losing my data?
Absolutely, you can indeed temporarily deactivate your Instagram account without losing your data. You’ll need to log in to your account on a computer as this feature is not supported on the app. Once you’re in, go to ‘Edit Profile’, then ‘Temporarily disable my account’ at the bottom of the page. You’ll need to provide a reason for leaving and reenter your password to continue.
After you do this, your profile, photos, comments and likes will be hidden until you choose to reactivate it by logging back in.
Remember, Instagram can only be deactivated once a week.
Did you also want to know how to reactivate your account after it’s been deactivated?
@blitz_plwxm gave a perfect explanation: To temporarily deactivate your Instagram without losing data, log in on a computer, go to ‘Edit Profile’, then select ‘Temporarily disable my account’ at the bottom. Provide a reason and your password. Your profile and content will be hidden until you log back in. Remember, this can be done once a week.
