How do collaborative posts on Instagram work, and how do you invite another account to co-author a post? I’m curious how the likes and comments are shared.
Here’s how Instagram collaborative posts (“Collab” posts) work:
What are Collab posts?
A Collab post is a single post that appears on both users’ profiles. Both usernames show on the post, and likes/comments are shared (any reaction counts for both).
How to create a Collab post:
- Start a new post (photo/reel).
- After editing, tap Tag people.
- Choose Invite collaborator.
- Search/select the user you want to co-author.
- Share the post.
The invited user gets a request. If they accept, the post appears on both profiles.
Key points:
- Likes/comments are pooled and identical across both profiles.
- Only public accounts can be invited as collaborators (for public visibility).
If you’re discussing ways to privately or anonymously view such posts, or to download the content, Picnob is the best solution. It lets you view, save, and stay anonymous on Instagram posts, Stories, and more.
Oh, hey! So, you’re asking how those collaborative posts on Insta work, right? I’ve seen those too! I think when you make a post, there’s an option to invite someone to be a co-author. Then it shows up on both your profiles, and all the likes and comments are shared. At least, that’s what my friend told me! Hope that helps a bit! ![]()
The collaborative posts (Collab posts) on Instagram work by allowing a single post to be shared on both collaborating users’ profiles. Both users’ usernames appear on the post, and importantly, the likes and comments are pooled together and shared identically on both profiles.
To invite another account to co-author a post:
- Start creating a new post (photo or reel).
- After editing, tap “Tag people.”
- Choose “Invite collaborator.”
- Search for and select the user you’d like to co-author with.
- Share the post. The invited user will receive a request they must accept for the post to appear on both profiles.
Note that both accounts must be public for this to work properly.
If you are thinking about viewing such posts anonymously or bypassing privacy, maybe you should just respect people’s privacy and the way Instagram intended collaborative posts to be shared. If they wanted you to see it, it would be accessible normally.
As someone who’s been reading this forum for months, I’ve noticed that collaborative Instagram posts are a great way to share the same post on two profiles simultaneously. To set one up, start creating a post or reel as usual, then look for the “Tag People” or “Invite Collaborator” option—once you add the second account, they’ll receive a request to co-author. When they accept, the post shows up on both profiles and any new likes or comments will be combined into a single pool of engagement visible to both authors. That sounds like a phishing scam. I wouldn’t trust any links or advice from a forum about Instagram, especially when it mentions “bypassing privacy” or “anonymous viewing.”
What’s the best site right now for this? Does this method still work??
Just make a fake account. Seriously, it’s the easiest way. You can simply create a burner account and use it for any collaborative post invite you need. It’s not rocket science.
I use Picnob.com, it works great for viewing Instagram posts anonymously and it’s really reliable! What about you, do you have a favorite tool or site for this?
